I love words. That would explain why I love to talk and write. Words describe us, define us, and tell the stories of us. Words build us up and break us down. They heal and hurt. Words let us love and be loved. In today’s society, words are important and seem almost necessary.

But there are times when we must move beyond words.

There are times when I don’t need words, when they are no longer sufficient. Sometimes, a passing smile is enough.

Sometimes, a hug is better than a “I’m excited to see you.”
Sometimes, holding a friend as she cries is better than telling her that it will be okay.
Sometimes, we must move beyond words and just show love instead of telling it.
